Why I Live in the Country

Heck, I live in the country cuz I’m a country man dammit!

In all seriousness, there are many reasons why I love inhabiting a rural area.

Safer for Children – One of the most important reasons is that it’s the perfect place to raise a family. In modern times in an urban area, you really can’t just let your kids out to go play outside like people used to when I was growing up. Now there are too many weirdos crowding the city. It’s not that people in the city are bad people – it’s just that when you have SO many people in one area, simple percentages say there are going to be bad ones. It’s much easier to protect your kid’s safety and keep them away from gangs and drugs when they are in the country.

Enjoying Nature – This one is obvious, but it’s worth mentioning. If you live in a cramped apartment in the middle of a big city, you are going to experience very little of the earth as the good lord intended it. In the country, instead of looking at concrete, you get to look at trees; instead of hearing cars honk, you hear birds chirp; and instead of smelling pollution, you smell fresh air. These are only some of the many examples of the joys of nature you get to enjoy in the country and not in the city. The country is good for your health and it’s good for your soul!

Space – When you live in the country, you have the space to do pretty much whatever you want. Want to play a big game of football? Have a big backyard party? Build a huge garden? You can do all these things and whatever else you want! In the city, you are lucky if you have enough room for a barbeque. And forgot about it if you live in an apartment – in that case, you’ll be lucky if you can fit a kitchen table! It’s a constant battle in the city for space, especially with your car. Whether it’s trying to find a parking spot or just battle traffic in general, driving is a constant headache. When you live in the country, driving is actually enjoyable!

I could go on and on, but these are three of the main reasons why it’s better to live in the country than the city.

What are your reasons?
